(410) 396-2706

Northwest Transfer Station on Reisterstown Road is the neighborhood transfer station in Baltimore where residential and small-haul loads get compacted and then trucked out to a landfill. People from nearby blocks use it when a big cleanup or oversized pickup won't fit regular curbside service.

There’s a small entrance booth and a drive lane-pull up to the booth and follow the cones or arrows toward the scale and tipping area. A scale is usually on site, and transfer stations commonly charge by weight, so expect to stop again on the way out. The facility looks industrial: concrete bays, big trucks, and loud compactors; it’s not a tidy drop-off like a neighborhood recycling center. Weekends and spring-cleanup times get backed up, so allow extra time if going then.

Before You Go

  • Cover and tie down loose loads with a tarp so nothing blows out on Reisterstown Road and unloading goes faster.
  • Wear gloves and sturdy shoes and have help ready for heavy items-the ground and bay edges can be rough.
  • Pack small stuff into boxes or bags beforehand so it doesn’t scatter when tipping, and try to go earlier in the day on weekends to avoid the longest lines.
