Recycling Center

Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center

12701 Missouri Ave, Brandywine, MD 20613

Small county recycling center in Brandywine that locals use for household recyclables and the occasional bulky item drop-off. People who live nearby swing by for cardboard, cans, bottles and scrap metal rather than hauling everything to the transfer station farther away.

Pull into a clearly marked entrance where an attendant booth controls access; there’s usually a traffic flow to follow and a scale near the entry or exit so loads are weighed. The recycling bays and roll-off containers sit out in the open - paper and cardboard get stacked in one area, glass and mixed containers in another, and metal piles off to the side. Weekends and spring cleanup days get busy, so lines and waiting to unload are common; the site itself is functional rather than pretty, with paved driving areas and large dumpsters.

Before You Go

  • Bring items sorted by type before pulling up; it speeds things along and makes it easier to find the correct bay.
  • Have a tarp and straps for loose materials so nothing blows out of the truck while waiting in line.
  • Expect other drivers to be moving around; keep a short distance from loaders and follow the attendants’ directions for where to put each material.
