Millersville Sanitary Landfill

Millersville Sanitary Landfill, 389 Burns Crossing Road, Severn, 21144, Maryland

Out on Burns Crossing Road, Millersville Sanitary Landfill is the place folks from Severn and nearby towns bring bulky trash and construction debris. It’s a working landfill with heavy equipment and large capped cells visible from the road. Both residential drivers and commercial haulers use it, so expect a mix of pickup trucks and roll-off trailers.

There’s a scale when you drive in - loads are typically weighed, so you’ll likely stop again on the way out. Pull up to the entrance booth/scalehouse and staff will point where to dump; after unloading most people head back across the scale. The site is mostly gravel and dirt with big machinery moving around and piles of compacted material and roll-offs. Weekends and spring-cleanup times can be busy, so lines sometimes back up onto the access road.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarpaulin loose loads before leaving home - wind-blown debris is a hassle and slows down unloading.
  • Bring sorted materials as much as possible; having recyclables separated and bulky items accessible speeds the process.
  • Try to go early or late in the day during peak seasons to avoid lines, and watch for heavy equipment when pulling up to the dumping face.
