Yarmouth Recycling Transfer Center

659 E Main St, Yarmouth, ME 04096

Yarmouth Recycling Transfer Center is the town recycling center on East Main, used by residents hauling household recyclables and small yard or project cleanups. Locals swing by with bins of cardboard, bottles, cans and other common recyclables to keep things out of the trash. The place feels like a small-town transfer spot rather than a big commercial depot.

Pull up to a single entrance area and follow the flow of cars - there’s typically a booth or attendant area where traffic is directed. Recycling containers and drop-off points are grouped together, with cardboard and mixed containers usually in obvious bays or large bins. Weekends and spring cleanup days get the longest lines, and winter weather can make the lot slippery or slower to work through. Bring things pre-sorted as much as possible to speed things along.

Before You Go

  • Flatten and bundle cardboard before unloading; it takes up far less space and moves quicker at the drop-off.
  • Aim for a weekday or mid-morning visit to avoid the long weekend backup, especially during spring cleanup.
  • Secure loose items in the truck bed and wear boots in winter - the lot can be icy and unloading on a slope is a pain.
