Sandy River Plantation Transfer Station on Unnamed Road in Rangeley is the small local spot where household trash gets dropped off, compacted, and hauled out to a landfill. Neighbors and seasonal homeowners use it when a trip to the landfill would be a longer drive.
Like most transfer stations, loads are compacted here and loaded onto larger trucks for transport. Drive in slowly and follow the flow on the lot; there’s usually a place to pull up for check-in and spots for different types of materials. The site looks and smells like a working industrial lot at times-dust, heavy equipment and roll-off containers are common, so keep a safe distance. Weekends and spring cleanup can back things up, so a weekday run is often quicker.
