Oakland Transfer Station

Town Farm Rd, Oakland, ME 04963

(207) 465-4732

Oakland Transfer Station is the town transfer station on Town Farm Rd where residents drop off household trash to be compacted and trucked out to a landfill. Locals use it when a trip to a distant landfill isn't convenient. It’s a working, no-frills place rather than a tidy retail-style facility.

Pull up to a small entrance booth and be prepared to maneuver around larger trucks and trailers. Beyond the booth is a large open dumping area with visible compacting equipment and hauling trucks. Many transfer stations have a scale so weighing can add an extra stop on the way in or out, which can slow things down. Lines tend to form on weekends and during spring cleanup, so traffic can be slow at peak times.

Before You Go

  • Cover and secure loose items with a tarp or tie-downs so nothing blows out while driving or unloading.
  • Load the vehicle so similar items are grouped together - it makes unloading quicker and keeps traffic moving.
  • Try to go early on a weekday or avoid peak spring cleanup weekends to shorten wait times.
