New Gloucester Transfer Station

264 Bald Hill Rd, New Gloucester, ME 04260

(207) 926-3145

Small-town transfer station used by New Gloucester residents to drop off household trash and recyclables before it gets compacted and trucked out. Locals swing by for routine cleanup or when town curbside service isn’t an option, so expect a steady mix of cars and small trailers.

Drive up to a gated entrance and pull into a single-lane approach near an attendant booth; there’s usually a scale and a place to stop on the way out. The grounds are a working yard with compactors, roll-off containers, and piles that change with the season, not a tidy retail recycling center. Recycling and trash drop-off points tend to be clustered to the right or straight ahead from the entrance, with room to back a truck up to a container. In winter the yard can get icy and snowplowed paths might be narrow, so plan for slower maneuvering.

Before You Go

  • Have vehicle registration or a town sticker handy-that’s often needed to prove residency and speeds things along at the booth.
  • Bring helpers and straps for bulky items; backing a trailer into a container is much easier with someone spotting and securing the load.
  • Avoid weekend mid-afternoon if possible; early mornings on weekdays or late mornings before lunch usually move faster and take less time shoveling snow off the driveway.
