(985) 878-4403A working landfill just outside Independence where household and larger loads end up buried. Locals, contractors, and anyone hauling a full trailer or pickup use this spot for final disposal. It’s the kind of place visited when trash needs to go somewhere permanent rather than recycled or hauled off-site.
Drive up to a booth/entrance area and be prepared to stop at a scale; charges are typically weight-based so expect to stop on the way out as well. The site is large and open, with compacted dirt roads, piles of covered fill, and heavy equipment moving around; wear closed-toe shoes if climbing around a load. Recycling or drop-off bins, if present, are usually set off to the side of the entrance road. During wet weather or after storms the surface can get muddy and slower to navigate because Louisiana sites handle a lot of high-moisture material and have extra wet-weather steps.
