Mt Zion Landfill is the big city landfill out on Mt Zion Road that people and haulers use when trash needs to be buried. Locals bring everything from pickup loads to commercial trucks; it’s the kind of place where loads end up buried rather than sorted or recycled on site.
Pull up to a small entrance booth and be ready to stop - there’s a scale to cross so tipping fees are charged by weight. The site is large and open, with rows of pushed-up cells and heavy equipment moving dirt and compacting cover; visibility is good but expect dust and muddy patches after rain. Trucks usually drive to a working face where material is tipped, then back over the scale to record the outbound weight. Because this is Louisiana, there are wet-weather protocols and low spots can get slick after storms.
