West Kentucky Landfill is the big landfill on U.S. 45 South in Mayfield, where both household haulers and commercial trucks drop off material to be buried. It’s the kind of place contractors, landscapers and neighbors use when curbside pickup won’t handle the load. Expect a no-frills, working-site feel rather than anything polished.
Drive up to an entrance booth and a scale - vehicles are weighed, so plan for an extra stop before and usually after unloading. After weighing, traffic is routed to the active tipping area where trucks pull up, dump, and head back over the scale for final records. The site is large: dirt roads, high mounds of compacted material, and heavy equipment moving around; it gets dusty in dry weather and muddy after rain. Both small pickups and big commercial haulers use the place, so watch for larger trucks while maneuvering.
