(270) 259-6363Leitchfield Solid Waste Transfer is the small transfer station on W Lake Drive that locals use when hauling loads that don’t make sense to take all the way to a distant landfill. Trucks and pickup loads show up from around town because trash is compacted here and then hauled out to the landfill elsewhere. It feels like a straightforward, no-frills stop for getting rid of household and yard debris.
There’s a drive-in entrance with a booth and a scale nearby - most transfer stations weigh loads, so expect to stop and be directed where to pull up. Vehicles line up at the scale or booth before being sent to the tipping area, where trash is dumped into a compactor or pit. The site is mostly concrete and gravel with large containers and heavy equipment moving around, so take it slow when driving in. Weekends and spring cleanup times commonly have a line of trucks and pickups waiting to get through.
