Trego County Landfill is the county dump just outside WaKeeney where residents and businesses bring material that will be buried. As a landfill it’s the final destination for trash; like most landfills there’s a scale with tiered tipping fees by weight, and commercial loads are typically handled here.
Drive in on M Road and you’ll come to a small weigh/entry point where vehicles stop to be weighed. Beyond that the site is mostly gravel roads, open cells and piles of cover dirt, with heavy trucks and compactors working the active face. Drivers generally pull up to the working area to unload and then cross the scale again on the way out for a final weight.
