Transfer Station

Sherman County Transfer Sta

2079 Co Rd 67, Goodland, KS 67735

(785) 890-4868

A small transfer station on the west side of Goodland where locals bring household and small-business loads to be compacted and sent on to a regional landfill. Farmers, contractors, and anyone avoiding the longer drive to a distant landfill use this spot for convenience.

The site sits back off County Road 67 with a drive-up area and an entrance booth visible from the road. Vehicles pull up to the booth, then proceed to the tipping face or compactor area; trash here is handled and loaded onto larger trucks for transport out of county. The scale is often part of the flow at transfer stations, so plan for a quick stop to be weighed if that applies. Expect a working-yard look-gravel, concrete pads, big containers and machinery-rather than a tidy recycling center.

Before You Go

  • Cover loose trash with a tarp for travel and secure anything that could blow out of the truck bed.
  • Bring strong gloves and something to help lift or slide items; drop-off points and containers can be high and awkward to reach.
  • Avoid peak weekend times and spring-cleanup mornings if possible-lines can form and unloading takes longer when several trucks are there.
