Russell County Landfill at 18536 Land Road is the county dump just outside Russell. Local residents, contractors and commercial haulers use it to haul material that will be buried at the site. It’s the final stop for things that can’t be kept or recycled locally.
Drive in toward the entrance where there’s typically an entry booth and a scale; landfills usually charge tipping fees by weight, so expect a weigh-in and weigh-out. Pull onto the scale lane and wait for direction from the booth, then follow the gravel roads out to the active cell to tip loads. The site looks like big dirt berms, heavy equipment moving around, and compacted lanes rather than paved streets. Weekends and spring cleanup times often mean a line of trucks and extra waiting.
