(800) 627-1717Republic Services Resource Recovery Landfill is the big county landfill just south of Cherryvale used by both local residents and commercial haulers. Big trucks and pickup loads both turn in here, and it’s clearly a large burial site rather than a transfer station or recycling center. The place handles final disposal for multiple nearby communities in southeast Kansas.
Drive up a long gravel approach to an entrance booth and a large concrete scale; vehicles normally stop on the scale to be weighed and then pull forward to the tipping area. Expect to see rows of compacted cells, heavy equipment pushing material, and a fairly open, dusty site with few amenities. Commercial trucks often queue behind smaller vehicles on busy days, so there can be a bit of waiting to get to the tip face. After dumping, vehicles typically return over the scale to record the outbound weight before leaving.
