Rawlins County Landfill sits out on Highway 25 just outside Atwood. Locals - farmers, contractors and households - bring heavy loads and everyday trash here to be buried at the county landfill.
There’s a scale and a small scale house/booth near the entrance; landfills like this generally charge tipping fees by weight, so expect to be weighed in and out. Pull up to the scale lane and follow the line of trucks to the active cell or pit to unload. The site is mostly gravel roads, dirt cells and heavy equipment moving around, so it can be dusty in dry weather and muddy after rain. Commercial trucks commonly use the place, though exact fees and any load limits are set by the county.
