Phillips County Landfill is the county landfill out on Center Road just outside Phillipsburg. Locals, hauling contractors and farmers drop off loads that need burying rather than recycling. It’s a working, no-frills place with open cells, heavy equipment and steady truck traffic.
A scale box and a small entrance booth sit near the gate; this type of landfill charges by weight, so expect to be weighed at least once and possibly again on the way out. Gravel roads lead up to the active tipping area, where larger trucks and dozers move material around. The working areas are mostly dirt and gravel, so it can be dusty in summer and muddy after rains. Recycling or drop-off containers, when present, tend to be off to one side near the entrance.
