Phillips County Landfill

1799 Center Rd, Phillipsburg, KS 67661

(785) 543-6880

Phillips County Landfill is the county landfill just outside Phillipsburg that most locals and haulers use for final disposal. Located on Center Road, it handles household and larger commercial deliveries from around the area and nearby counties. The site is the kind of place trucks and pickup loads head to when nothing else will take an item.

The site feels like a typical rural landfill: open working cells, dirt roads, and heavy equipment moving earth. There will usually be a building or booth near the entrance for check-in and a scale for weighing loads, so plan for a short stop before and after dumping. Loads are charged on a tipping-fee basis (by weight or minimum charge), and commercial loads are commonly accepted at regional landfills like this one. Recycling or drop-off bins, if present, tend to be off to the side of the main disposal area rather than mixed in with the burial cell.

Before You Go

  • Cover loose trash and secure loads; wind can blow things around on the access road and in the pit.
  • Sort out recyclable items at home so unloading is faster if there are separate bins on site.
  • Expect more traffic on weekends and during spring cleanups; plan for a short wait and a second stop at the scale if loads are weighed in and out.
