Ness County Landfill

113 S Pennsylvania Ave, Ness City, KS 67560

(785) 798-3853

Ness County Landfill is the county landfill out on S Pennsylvania in Ness City, used by local residents and commercial haulers who need a place to bury trash. This is the final-disposal site where loads are tipped and buried rather than recycled or processed. People from surrounding rural areas bring household junk, construction debris and regular trash here.

Drive up the gravel driveway to a small entrance booth and a scale nearby; vehicles normally stop to be weighed before and after dumping. The site is large and open with dirt roads and compacted fill areas instead of paved tipping bays, so expect some dust and mud depending on weather. Tipping fees are charged by weight or vehicle class at most county landfills, and commercial loads are accepted here. Bring a vehicle that can back up to a drop area and be prepared to haul items a short distance to the active cell.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarpaulin any loose material so paper and plastic don’t blow out on the way and around the site.
  • Wear sturdy shoes and expect uneven ground-trucks leave ruts after rain and the working area is not paved.
  • If hauling bulky items, bring a helper to unload quickly; weekends and spring cleanups can mean lines and waits.
