Gray County Landfill

14905 11th Rd, Ingalls, KS 67853

(620) 335-5153

Gray County Landfill is the big county dump just outside Ingalls that handles the final burying of trash for this part of southwest Kansas. Farmers, small businesses and local residents haul loads here because it’s one of the regional landfills that takes commercial as well as residential loads. It sits back off 11th Road and looks like a typical rural landfill - wide dirt drives and big working faces where material is covered and compacted.

Drive in past a small entrance booth and be ready to stop at a scale - loads are weighed and charged by weight, so expect to pull forward and then back after unloading. The tipping area is open and exposed, with trucks and pickups lining up; plan for some dust in dry weather and mud when it’s wet. Recycling or drop-off bins, if present, tend to be off to one side near the entrance, and larger commercial trucks pull further in toward active cells. Traffic can spike on weekends and during spring cleanup, so there may be a short line to unload.

Before You Go

  • Secure loose loads with a tarp before leaving home; wind and travel can scatter trash along county roads.
  • Have vehicle and trailer information handy for the scale-knowing gross and empty weight speeds things along.
  • Bring gloves, closed-toe shoes and a shovel; the working area is rough and there’s often loose debris where people walk.
