Gove County Sanitary Landfill

5680 County Road Aa, Park, KS 67751

(785) 673-4695

Gove County Sanitary Landfill is the county landfill outside Park where household trash and commercial loads end up being buried. Local residents and haulers from surrounding rural areas use it for final disposal, and it’s the kind of place you go to when the weekly pickup won’t cut it.

Drive in to a simple entrance with a booth and a scale; the scale means tipping fees are charged by weight and there are usually minimum charges for small loads. Pull up to the booth so attendants (if present) can direct where to offload, then follow the haul road to the active cell where trucks back in to dump. The site is large and mostly gravel and dirt - expect exposed ground, compacted piles, and machinery working the cells. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to be busier, so lines at the scale can form.

Before You Go

  • Secure loose material before leaving home so nothing blows out on the road or at the site.
  • Separate big bulky items from general trash in the truck bed to speed up unloading and reduce time at the scale.
  • Bring a means to pay for tipping fees and allow extra time for lining up at the entrance during busy periods.
