Finney County Landfill / Western Plains Regional Landfill is Garden City's large regional landfill that handles both municipal and commercial loads. Contractors, haulers and residents bring anything that needs to be buried here. It’s the final stop for trash, not a recycling drop-off or transfer station.
Drive up to an entrance booth and a scale - most landfills charge tipping fees by weight, so expect to stop on the scale and again after dumping. The site is expansive with long access roads, heavy equipment working, and noticeable piles of compacted material; pull up to the tipping area and be ready to back in or back up to unload. Commercial trucks are common alongside pickup loads, so traffic can be a mix of rigs and smaller vehicles. Lines can build up at busy times, especially on weekends and during spring cleanups.
