Sioux City Citizen's Convenience Center

5800 28th St, Sioux City, IA 51108

(712) 255-8345

A small neighborhood drop-off spot on the west side of Sioux City where residents bring household refuse and recyclables. Mostly used by homeowners and folks doing yard cleanups or small projects, not big commercial haulers. It looks and feels like a typical convenience center rather than a large transfer station.

Drive up the short access road to a paved area with several large containers and a small booth near the entrance. Pull up, unload into the appropriate container - recyclables are usually grouped together and yard waste is separate - then drive back out the same way. The site is compact, so plan to maneuver carefully if towing a trailer; backing into drop spots is common. Weekends and spring cleanup times get noticeably busier, with cars and small trucks lining up at peak times.

Before You Go

  • Bring items already sorted into bags or boxes so unloading is quicker and easier for the next person in line.
  • If hauling a trailer, have someone spot while backing; the lanes are tight and turning space is limited.
  • Avoid the busiest weekend hours if possible - midweek mornings are often much quicker for a drop-off.
