SEMCO Landfill sits just off Highway 78 West in Richland and is the local place where trash gets buried. Residents use it, and as with most landfills, commercial haulers commonly end up there too. It’s a straightforward, large-scale landfill rather than a drop-off recycling center.
There’s an entrance booth and a vehicle scale - tipping fees are typically charged by weight, so expect to be weighed coming in and again on the way out. Pull up to the booth/scale area and follow the gravel roads; the site is big with dirt mounds and open tipping areas. It can be dusty in dry weather and muddy after rain, and larger trucks move around the site so give them plenty of space. Weekends, especially during spring cleanup, tend to have longer lines of pickups and trailers.
