Northwest Iowa Area SWA Landfill on 360th Street in Sheldon is where the area's household pickups, farm trailers, and contractor trucks bring trash to be buried. Local residents and commercial haulers use it when they need a place to dispose of loads that aren’t recyclable or reused.
You'll cross a scale on the way in - they charge by weight, so expect to stop again on the way out. There’s an entrance booth where loads are logged and drivers are directed to the active tipping area. The site is large and open, with gravel drives, earth mounds, and heavy equipment working the cells. Commercial loads are accepted, so larger trucks and trailers are a common sight.
Learn how to properly dispose of common items.
