Solid Waste Facility

North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency

2150 S 22nd St, Fort Dodge, IA 50501

(515) 955-2781

A county solid waste site on the south side of Fort Dodge that handles household trash, yard clippings and the usual recycling drop-offs. Farmers and residents both use it, especially during seasonal cleanups when things pile up.

Drive up to a small entrance booth and be prepared to pull forward for a quick check; many people slow down at the gate to sort what they have. Recycling containers are typically grouped to the right while trash piles and yard waste are farther back, so expect to loop through the yard a bit depending on where to unload. The site is open-air with gravel drives and concrete dumping pads, and larger trucks share space with pickup haulers so give extra room when turning. Lines form on weekends and during spring and fall cleanups, so there can be a bit of a wait.

Before You Go

  • Secure tarps on loose loads so debris doesn’t blow out while driving through the site.
  • Keep recyclables separated from general trash in the truck so unloading goes faster once at the right bin.
  • Plan to arrive early on Saturdays or late weekdays to avoid the busiest times during seasonal cleanups.
