Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency

101 Airborne Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003

(563) 557-8220

Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency is the county solid waste site on Airborne Road that locals use for household trash, recycling drop-offs, and yard debris. Farmers and city residents both swing through here, especially in spring and fall when cleanup and farm seasons pick up. It sits a short drive out of town and is easy to find off the main road.

There’s a small entrance booth and a scale area, so plan on pulling up and stopping briefly before heading into the main tipping area. Recycling bins and yard waste piles are usually off to one side, with larger roll-off areas and open tipping spaces beyond them. Trucks and trailers are common; the site feels large and a little industrial, with gravel and concrete surfaces and clear sightlines to where materials are dropped. Weekends and seasonal cleanups tend to slow traffic, so lines at the booth or scale can form.

Before You Go

  • Bring a tarp or tied-down cover for loose loads-wind can send stuff flying at the open tipping areas.
  • Have material sorted in the truck bed or trailer so unloading is quicker; separating recyclables, brush, and household trash before pulling up saves time.
  • Expect other farm equipment and long trailers on site during planting and harvest windows; give extra room when maneuvering and watch for blind spots.
