Black Hawk County Sanitary Landfill (Area E) is the county dump out on East Washburn Road in Waterloo. Residents and commercial haulers drop off everything from small pickup loads to larger trucks here, and it’s the place where material gets buried rather than recycled.
Drive up the entrance road and you'll come to a scale/booth area - tipping is typically worked out by weight, so expect to be weighed and to stop again on the way out. The site is big and industrial: dirt roads, compacted piles of trash, and heavy equipment moving around. Trucks and trailers are common, and lines can form at peak times, so there may be a short wait before getting to the unload spot. After dumping, vehicles usually head back across the scale before leaving.
