Homewood Disposal Valparaiso Transfer Station

3101 Bertholet Blvd, Valparaiso, IN 46383

(219) 931-9000

A local transfer station on the south side of Valparaiso where residents and small haulers drop off household and bagged trash to be compacted and sent to a landfill elsewhere. People use it when they don't want to drive out to a distant landfill - it's more of a quick stop for neighborhood cleanouts and small loads.

Drive up to a single entrance with an attendant booth nearby; plan to stop there before pulling into the drop area. The site is industrial-looking - concrete pads, big compactors or receiving pits, and large trucks coming and going. Vehicles usually pull up to an elevated tipping area or maneuver into a bay to dump; expect to wait if a compactor truck is being loaded. Weekend and spring-cleanup afternoons tend to be the busiest, so lines can form.

Before You Go

  • Secure loose items and tarp loads so nothing blows out while driving or waiting in line.
  • Bring tools and gloves for quick unloading - some loads need a bit of moving before they’ll go into the compactor.
  • Avoid peak times like weekend afternoons or spring cleanup weekends if possible to shorten your wait.
