Recycling Center

Waste Management - Chicago Recycling Services (RSI) Recycling Center

3301 W 48th Pl, Chicago, IL 60632

(773) 247-2070

A working recycling center in the southwest side of Chicago that handles neighborhood and commercial drop-offs. People bring cardboard, mixed paper, bottles, cans and other common recyclables here, and it's busiest on weekends and during seasonal cleanups.

Drive in off 48th Place and look for the small entrance booth and a line of trucks and cars waiting to unload; there’s usually a scale near the front so vehicles stop twice. Recycling bins and bays sit to the right past the booth, while larger trailers and roll-offs line the back of the lot. There’s a lot of concrete, forklifts moving pallets, and staff directing traffic during busy stretches, so follow posted signs and cones while you park and unload.

Before You Go

  • Keep cardboard flattened and tied or in a single pile to speed the drop-off; loose bags of mixed recycling take longer to sort.
  • Bring a tarp or straps for heavier items so they don’t shift when unloading from a truck or pickup.
  • Try to swing by early on weekdays or mid-mornings on Saturdays to avoid the longest lines during neighborhood cleanups.
