800-963-4776Tazewell Transfer Station is the spot in East Peoria where local trash gets dropped off, compacted and sent on to a landfill elsewhere. Neighbors and folks hauling pickup loads or small trailers use it when they don't want to drive out to a distant dump. It feels like a working, no-frills municipal site rather than a retail place.
Drive up to a small entrance area with a booth and a place to pull up - that's where vehicles are usually directed before being waved onto the tipping floor. The site is industrial: concrete bays, compactors or large containers, and trucks coming and going. Loads are consolidated here and then trucked out, so expect to see big transfer trailers and loaders moving material. Weekends and spring-cleanup times tend to be busier, so there can be a line to get in.
