(309) 827-8631Republic Services McLean County Landfill is a large landfill just west of Bloomington that handles neighborhood cleanouts and commercial haulers alike. This is the place garbage gets buried rather than sorted, so expect big trucks and a working-site feel.
The entrance has a booth and a pair of scales-trucks stop to be weighed and then stop again on the way out, since charges are weight-based. Pull into the lane at the booth and follow the signs toward the tipping face or drop-off area; the site is expansive with dirt roads and piles of compacted material. Surfaces are often dusty or muddy depending on recent weather, and traffic can back up during spring cleanups and weekend mornings. Smaller vehicles usually share space with commercial trucks, so drive cautiously and watch for heavy equipment.
