(773) 994-6031Republic Services Loop Transfer Station on 64th Street is a city transfer station where local trash gets compacted and sent off to a landfill. Neighbors, small haulers and folks clearing out a garage use it because it saves a long drive out of town. It's an industrial lot surrounded by other heavy-vehicle traffic, not a tidy public drop-off.
There’s an entrance booth and a scale to drive over - loads are weighed so expect to stop more than once. Big trucks and roll-off containers dominate the yard, with a few concrete tipping bays where smaller vehicles back in to unload. The place is noisy and dusty, with diesel fumes from constant truck traffic and large compactors working nearby. Lines build up on weekend mornings and during neighborhood cleanups, so the hold times can stretch.
