(773) 646-1260Republic Services Calumet Transfer Station is a city transfer station on the Southeast Side of Chicago that serves residents and contractors hauling loads that will be compacted and shipped off-site. Local drivers, landscapers, and people doing cleanouts use it because it saves the drive to a distant landfill. The site feels industrial - lots of trucks and a concrete tipping area rather than a grassy drop-off.
Drive up to an entry point where there’s usually an entrance booth and a scale nearby; vehicles often stop to be weighed before or after dumping. The yard has a large paved approach and a high concrete pit or loading area where material gets compacted into trucks. Recycling bins or separate containers are commonly located to the side of the main tipping area, and expect heavy truck traffic and backing vehicles throughout the site. Lines build up on weekends and during seasonal cleanups, so plan for some wait time.
