Bonner County Transfer Station

30 Paisley Rd, Spirit Lake, ID 83869

(208) 623-3591

Bonner County Transfer Station in Spirit Lake is the local spot where household and small-scale loads get compacted and sent off to a landfill. Locals, contractors with pickup loads, and anyone who'd rather not drive to a distant landfill use this place regularly.

There’s a small entrance booth and a pull-up area where trucks and trailers line up; expect to stop at the booth and then move into the tipping area. Large concrete bays and compactors are visible from the access road, and loads are deposited into an open pit or container before being compacted and hauled away. Recycling drop-offs are usually grouped to one side of the main lanes, so look for a row of bins past the entrance. Weekends and spring cleanup times tend to have longer lines, so plan for a wait if arriving then.

Before You Go

  • Secure tarps and tie down loose items on trucks and trailers - wind can blow debris while waiting in line or during the short drive on-site.
  • Bring help for heavy or awkward items; the tipping area is not set up for moving furniture by oneself and ramps/edges can be steep.
  • Arrive with materials sorted as much as possible (metals separated from general trash, recyclables kept together) to speed up unloading and reduce confusion in the lanes.
