Drive up to an entrance booth and wait your turn; many transfer stations have a scale, so drivers often stop twice - once in, once out. There’s a fenced lot with a large tipping area and compacting equipment down on the pad; commercial transfer trucks pull in to load sealed containers. Pull up to the appropriate drop-off point for what’s being unloaded, then back away to the exit where the vehicle may be weighed again.
