Keaau Rubbish Transfer Station and County Water Filling Station is the local spot where residents bring household trash to be compacted and trucked out to a landfill. Neighbors drop off everything from bagged trash to bulky items, and there’s also a county water filling service on site for people hauling water tanks.
Pull up to a small entrance booth and be prepared to stop at a scale-transfer stations commonly charge by weight, so there’s usually a weigh-in and then a weigh-out. The site feels industrial: concrete bunkers, compactors, and roll-off trucks moving through. Vehicles stack up more on weekends and during community cleanups, so lines are common. The water filling station is separate from the trash area but on the same property, with people lining up in trucks and trailers when it’s busy.
