Transfer Station

Gateway Transfer Station

1625 West Gate Parkway SW, Atlanta, GA 30336

800-963-4776

Gateway Transfer Station is the small-town transfer station on Gateway Rd that locals and small haulers use to drop off household and construction loads before those loads get compacted and hauled to a distant landfill. People who live in and around Gateway swing by here instead of driving a long way to the regional landfill.

There’s an entrance booth and a scale, so be ready to pause when pulling in and again when leaving - transfers are commonly charged by weight. The site looks like a working yard: concrete pads, roll-off containers, and big transfer trailers coming and going. Drivers pull up to a drop area to unload; loads are usually compacted and loaded onto semi-trailers for transport out of town. Weekends and spring cleanup times can back up traffic, so expect short lines then.

Before You Go

  • Secure loads with tarps and tie-downs so debris doesn’t blow off while driving to the station.
  • Bring smaller, separated piles if possible - it’s easier to unload and keeps the line moving.
  • Plan to avoid weekend mornings if a quicker trip is wanted; midweek visits are typically less crowded in small communities.
