Volusia County Transfer Station

3151 E New York Ave, DeLand, FL 32724

(386) 943-7889

This is Volusia County Transfer Station in DeLand, where local residents drop off household junk and yard clippings instead of driving out to a distant landfill. People bring everything from bagged leaves to broken furniture; the place moves a lot of material, especially after storms. It’s the kind of site neighbors use when a pickup won’t do the job.

Drive up to a gatehouse or entrance booth where attendants will direct traffic; there’s usually a lane to pull up and get checked before entering. Vehicles typically pass over a scale at some point since loads are weighed before and after - plan for a short stop there. The tipping area is large and industrial-looking: concrete pads, compactors, and trailers where trucks get loaded for the trip out of county. Yard waste piles are often kept off to one side, and recycling bins are generally placed near the right side past the entrance.

Before You Go

  • Bring items separated if possible: put yard waste in one pile and bulky household items in another so unloading goes quicker.
  • Avoid peak times like weekend mornings or the days after a big storm, when lines and wait times can grow long.
  • Have the truck or vehicle bed cleared and secured before pulling up to the booth so unloading can happen without extra stops.
