Construction Debris: What You Can (and Can't) Take to the Dump
Renovating your home? Drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials have different disposal rules than regular trash. Here's what to know.
Read more →Vista Landfill is the big county dump out on W. Keene Road that both residents and commercial haulers use to get rid of bulky trash and construction debris. It’s the kind of place where trucks and pickups mix with occasional roll-offs; people go there when curbside pickup won’t cut it. Expect a working, no-frills site serving Apopka and surrounding areas.
There’s a weigh scale as you drive in, so vehicles stop twice – once in and again on the way out for final weight. A small entrance booth directs traffic and points drivers toward the active cells; the site is a wide open operation with piles, heavy equipment moving about, and separate piles or bays for yard material during high-volume times. Commercial trucks are a common sight and the facility handles large loads, so lanes and tipping spots are set up for quick dumping and compacting. Lines can form on weekends and after storms, when hurricane debris protocols usually mean more traffic and temporary changes to where material goes.
