Tri-Rail/Metrorail Transfer Station in Hialeah is a local transfer station where residential and contractor loads are dropped off to be compacted and then hauled to a landfill elsewhere. Neighbors bring everything from bagged household trash to yard debris when they don't want to drive to a distant landfill.
Drive up to a small entrance area with a booth and traffic lane; there’s usually a line on weekends and during spring cleanup or after storms. The site is industrial - large concrete bays, compactors and roll-off trucks moving around, so expect noise and some diesel smell. Many Florida facilities have separate spots for yard waste, so look for signage or arrows as you pull in. Be prepared to wait a bit and to maneuver a truck or pickup into a tipping area if it’s busy.
