(561) 640-4000SWA Central County Transfer Station is the local transfer station that Lake Worth residents use when hauling household bulk or yard material they don't want to drive all the way to a landfill. People drop off loads here so material can be compacted and hauled out to a landfill elsewhere. It sees steady traffic year-round, and gets noticeably busier around hurricane season and spring yard-cleanup time.
Drive up to an entrance booth and usually stop to be directed onto the property; most transfer stations have a scale near the entrance so expect to cross it and pay by weight when leaving. The site is more industrial than pretty - big bays, compactors, and roll-off areas are common sights, with separate piles or lanes for yard waste at many Florida facilities. Lines build up on weekends and after storms, so there can be a wait to get to the tipping area where trucks compact the load before it’s hauled off.
