Santa Rosa Central Landfill

Santa Rosa Central Landfill, 6337 Da Lisa Road, Milton, 32583, Florida

Santa Rosa Central Landfill is Milton’s large municipal landfill on Da Lisa Road, used by local residents, contractors and commercial haulers. It’s the place where trash gets buried and handled on a fairly big scale. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection oversees solid waste in the state, and hurricane season can affect operations or cause busy periods.

There’s a scale and an entrance booth near the front - vehicles are weighed, then driven to the active tipping area to unload, and weighed again on the way out. The site looks industrial: heavy equipment, exposed cells, capped mounds and lots of trucks coming and going. Lines can form, especially on weekends, during spring cleanups or ahead of storms. Tipping fees are calculated by weight, and commercial loads are accepted.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarp loads before heading out so nothing blows out on the road or back at the site; that saves time and hassle.
  • Sort the truck or trailer so bulky items are easy to pull out first - separating large pieces from loose trash speeds unloading.
  • Expect the weigh-scale routine and tipping fees by weight; plan for possible backups during hurricane prep and high‑cleanup periods (midweek mornings usually move faster).
