Republic Services Metro Transfer Station

2702 E 2nd Ave, Tampa, FL 33605

(813) 248-6435

Small-scale transfer station in east Tampa that locals use when hauling yard clippings, construction scraps, or household bulk items instead of driving out to a distant landfill. Located on E 2nd Ave, it sees a steady mix of pickup trucks, trailers, and roll-offs on weekdays and heavier traffic after storms.

There’s a little entrance booth and a scale area where vehicles stop and drive over again on the way out, so expect to pause twice. Trucks and compactors dominate the site - large containers get emptied and loaded into bigger rigs that leave for a landfill elsewhere. Noise, diesel smell, and big equipment are constant; the yard waste piles are usually off to one side during seasonal cleanups. Weekends and hurricane-debris periods create longer lines, and staff sometimes direct traffic to keep bigger trucks moving.

Before You Go

  • Secure and tarp loads before getting to the gate - loose debris will blow off and make unloading messier.
  • Plan for delays on weekends and during hurricane season; showing up early can shave a lot of waiting time.
  • Bring gloves, a shovel or straps, and an extra set of hands for quick unloading - the drop areas can be awkward depending on vehicle height.
