(352) 521-0500Pasco County Transfer Station on Handcart Road in Dade City is where county solid waste gets compacted and loaded onto trucks headed to a landfill elsewhere. Locals and small contractors use it when a full landfill run would be too far. The site looks like an industrial yard with big concrete bays, metal bins and heavy trucks coming and going.
Drive in past an entrance booth and a scale; many transfer stations do a weigh-in and weigh-out so vehicles often stop twice. There are large tipping areas and compactors where materials are dumped and compressed before being hauled off. Expect noise, diesel smells and a fair bit of dust-this isn’t a tidy drop-off. Lines build up on weekends and during spring cleanup or after storms, so wait times can swell.
