It’s where trash gets buried in the end, so expect heavy equipment and large trucks moving around. Florida DEP oversees facilities like this, and hurricane season can change how it runs.
Drive in slowly and look for the weigh scale near the entrance; tipping fees are charged by weight, so most vehicles get weighed in and out. Pull up to the entrance lane and follow the arrows or signs to the booth and then on to the dumping area. The site is big - dirt mounds, compacted cells and heavy machinery are obvious, and dust or odors show up on windy days. Weekends and post-storm cleanups tend to be busier than weekday mornings.
