Transfer Station

East Hernando Transfer Station

33070 Cortez Blvd, Dade City, FL 33523

(352) 540-6205

A working transfer station in Dade City where residents drop off household and yard loads before the trucked compacting and hauling happens. Locals bring things here when the nearest landfill is farther away or when cleaning up after storms.

The lot is functional rather than pretty: an entrance booth and a drive lane to pull up, with a larger concrete tipping area and compacting equipment beyond. Expect to stop at a scale or booth area before moving to the drop-off point, and then to exit the same way you came in. There are usually separate spots for loose yard debris versus mixed loads, and piles can look big after heavy rains or storm cleanup. Weekends and post-storm periods commonly have lines, so be prepared to wait.

Before You Go

  • Bring a tarp or straps for loose loads so material won’t blow out while waiting in line.
  • Drive slowly and follow the flow of traffic-watch for large trucks backing up near the tipping area.
  • Sort materials in the truck bed before getting to the booth to speed up the process once it’s your turn.
