Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex is the big landfill out on Knights Trail where residents and haulers take stuff that’s destined to be buried. Locals and contractors both use it for regular drop-offs and larger commercial loads. The place handles high volumes typical for Florida, especially when hurricane debris rolls through.
Drive past an entrance booth and then up onto a scale - tipping fees are assessed by weight, so expect to stop for a weigh-in on the way out as well. The site is large and mostly open, with working faces of the landfill visible from access roads and separate piles or bays for yard and vegetative debris. Recycling and drop-off bins sit off to one side near the entrance area, and weekend traffic or seasonal cleanups can create a backup at the gate. Trucks and trailers are common, so watch for heavy equipment and take it slow on the internal roads.
