(203) 341-5078A small town transfer station where Westport residents bring household trash and recyclables for local drop-off. People who live in town and have a transfer station permit are the usual users, and it’s the local spot for getting rid of stuff without driving to an out-of-state landfill.
Drive up to a guarded entrance booth and be prepared to stop so staff can check permits; there’s typically a short lane to pull into rather than free parking. The site is built for trucks - large compactors and roll-off containers are visible from the driving lanes, and hauling trucks come and go with fairly regularity. Recyclable bins and sorting areas are grouped near the drop-off points, and residents generally hand items out of their vehicles or back up to a designated drop edge for unloading. Lines form on busy weekend mornings and during seasonal cleanups, so expect some waiting at peak times.
