Rocky Hill Transfer Station

59 Old Forge Rd, Rocky Hill, CT 06067, United States

Rocky Hill Transfer Station is the local spot where town trash gets dropped off and compacted before heading out of state. Neighbors and small contractors use it for household cleanouts and regular curbside overflow when hauling stuff themselves.

There’s an entrance booth and a lane to pull up to for check-in, then vehicles move through to a larger tipping/compaction area where trucks take the compacted load away. The site feels industrial - concrete pads, big compactors, and trucks coming and going - so expect some noise and diesel smells. Lines form on weekends and during seasonal cleanups, and most people back their trailers or trucks up to a bay to unload before driving back past the scale if required.

Before You Go

  • Have whatever town permit or ID is needed ready before you reach the booth to speed things along.
  • Secure and cover loose material on trailers or pickup beds; windy days scatter lightweight stuff and create extra cleanup time.
  • Bring an extra pair of hands for heavy or bulky items - maneuvering mattresses, furniture, or appliances is easier with help and reduces time spent at the drop-off point.
